A fantastically decorative Mercury Glass Witches ball, mirrored, silvered and gently foxed. Witches Balls are associated with numerous superstitions. They were often hung in shop windows in the 18th and 19th Centuries, to ward off evil spirits. It was thought that witches could be entrapped by their own reflection! It has a decorative ring to the top, so can be hung in a variety of settings. Great at any time of the year but particularly at Christmas and during the winter months. I saw some hung in a Georgian houses’ windows the other day and they look amazing!!
